Training Requirements as of May 25, 2011
The
National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners Training Requirements
based on the PROPOSED Rules Released on December 1, 2008. We are
awaiting the final rule publication for specifics, but this is what we
know based on the proposed Federal Rule.

| All
Medical Examiners would complete training conducted by a private-sector
training provider accredited by a nationally recognized medical
profession accrediting organization to provide continuing education
credits . |
Continuing
Education certificates will be issued for all 5 examiner categories.
Each training session is approved for a maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Hours TM . |
| FMCSA will provide core cirriculum training specifications and administrative requirements. |
Approximately
17 modules have been developed in anticipation of core cirriculum
requirements. Once released, those modules will be reviewed to assure
compliance. |
| After
initial training, a medical examiner would be required to complete
periodic retraining at least every 3 years to refresh his or her
knowledge. |
NRCME Training Systems, LLC will provide this at no charge to those examiners that have taken the initial training with us. |
| The full training would be required to be repeated every twelve years. |
This will be provided, on-line, by NRCME Training Systems, LLC. |
| After completing mandatory training, examiner will have to pass the NRCME examination administered at a local facility. |
NRCME Plus+ Training System will generate a completion certificate for presentation at the testing site. |
| Re-certification via examination will be completed each six years for NRCME renewal. |
NRCME Training Systems will provide concurrent, on-line, training. |
| After passing, examiner would be listed on the Registry for six years. |
